Important mahi at Lake Oporoa

This morning, we focused on thoroughly reviewing the final elements of the restoration project at Lake Opora, working in collaboration with Scotty and Anna from HRC and Tere and Nathan from Fordell Weedsprayers.

We confirmed the required number of plants, established new fencing lines, identified the different types of weeds present, and developed a strategy to manage the poplar trees that are adversely affecting the lake’s health

Additionally, we noted the significant population of geese at the lake, which also poses a threat to its ecological balance. To mitigate this issue, we will implement a structured program aimed at culling the geese during specific periods to ensure the long-term restoration and preservation of Lake Opora’s environmental integrity..
